
Richard L. (Dick) Schory is a rare and unique individual whose interests and vast experience combines the creative, technical and practical business approach to every project. His professional activities cove just about every aspect of the music, education and entertainment industries. He has earned a distinguished international reputation as an award winning percussionist, composer, arranger, conductor; record, TV, film, video producer; author, music publisher; audio pioneer; innovator of important far reaching music education concepts; and as a top level business executive. Today, one of Dick’s true pleasures is sharing his love of music with young musicians and over the years has worked extensively with students of Glenbrook North and South.
Throughout his illustrious career, Dick Schory has collaborated with the absolute top talent and leaders in their respective fields including: Meredith Wilson (Music Man), Henry Mancini, Andy Williams, Earl Hagen (TV Composer), Julie Andrews, The Beatles, Stan Kenton, Anthony Newley, Fred Waring, Irwin Kostal (Arranger Sound of Music, West Side Story, Mary Poppins), Fritz Reiner (The Chicago Symphony Orchestra), Colonel Larry Lang (U.S. Air Force Band) Dick Schory is considered an audio, percussion and music LEGEND . . . on November 10, 2011 he was inducted into the PAS HALL OF FAME for his contributions in percussion and music education. He has received 7 Grammy nominations and special awards from NARAS for his pioneering development of Stereophonic and Quadraphonic technology, Gold and Platinum awards from RIAA and several of his recordings have been honored by Absolute Sound and High Fidelity Magazines. Dick was also inducted into The Sonic Hall of Fame for his pioneering innovations in audio quality.
